Welcome to IMDEA Materials Institute’s High Performance Polymer Nanocomposites (HPPN) Group. HPPN Research Group at IMDEA Materials Institute was created by Dr.De-Yi Wang in 2012. The research group focuses on the application-oriented fundamental problems and novel technologies in multifunctional nanomaterials, eco-benign fire retardant materials, bio-based polymers and composites and smart sensors, including innovative chemistry to synthesis and advanced processing. Main research activities include:

  • Eco-benign and sustainable fire-retardant polymers
  • Multifunctional nanomaterials and smart sensors
  • High performance polymer-based composites and/or nanocomposites
  • Fire behaviors and fire retarding mechanisms
  • Fire-safe energy storage materials, e.g. fire-safe Li-ion battery
  • Bio-based polymers and phase change materials

HPPN Research Group has well-equipped laboratories with the-state-of-the-art facilities for R&D in fire retardant materials and polymer composite/nanocomposites, has a track record of attracting funding from European Union, international collaboration, industries and national government, has built up the close cooperation with some renowned scientific institutions from Germany, Switzerland, China and Spain.
