Welcome to IMDEA Materials Institute’s High Performance Polymer Nanocomposites (HPPN) Group. HPPN Research Group in IMDEA Materials Institute was created by Dr.De-Yi Wang in 2012 since he joined the IMDEA as a Senior Researcher. The research group focuses on the application-oriented fundamental problems and novel technologies in multifunctional nanomaterials, eco-benign fire retardant materials, high performance environment-friendly polymers and nanocomposites and novel bio-based polymers and composites, including innovative chemistry to synthesis and advanced processing. This research group is focused on:

  • Eco-benign multifunctional halogen-free fire retardant materials
  • Multifunctional nanomaterials and smart materials
  • High performance polymer matrix composites and/or nanocomposites
  • Fire behaviors and fire retarding mechanisms
  • Polymer composites processing and manufacturing
  • Radiation-induced modification of high performance polymers
  • Novel high performance bio-based polymers and composites

HPPN Research Group has well-equipped laboratories with the-state-of-the-art facilities for R&D in fire retardant materials and advanced polymer composite/nanocomposites, has a track record of attracting funding from European Union, international collaboration, industries and national government, has built up the close cooperation with some renowned scientific institutions from Germany, UK, New Zealand, China, France and Spain.
