Prof. De-Yi Wang receives 2025 Huawei Excellent Technical Cooperation Project award

IMDEA Materials Principal Investigator Prof. De-Yi Wang has received the 2025 Huawei Excellent Technical Cooperation Project award for his contribution to the success of the TRANS-FIRE project.
Prof. Wang was one of only two awardees in Europe recognised by Huawei for outstanding technical cooperation. The award acknowledges the achievements of TRANS-FIRE, short for Transparent flame-retardant polymer CPR B2ca invisible optical cable, a project focused on developing high-performance, fire-retardant and flexible polymer materials for telecommunications applications.
The project, which concluded last year, reflects the value of close collaboration between excellent fundamental science and leading industrial partners. Prof. Wang said the recognition from Huawei is both an honour for the team and an encouragement to continue advancing research in flame-retardant materials with broader benefits for society.
Prof. Wang also thanked the Huawei Germany and France teams, the management team of IMDEA Materials Institute, and his research team, with special acknowledgement to Mr. Wei Tang for his dedication throughout the project.
