Ignacio Romero

Computational Solid Mechanics

Dr Ignacio Romero obtained his Mechanical Engineering degree in the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros ICAI (Universidad Pontificia Comillas, Madrid) in 1995. Funded with a Fulbright scholarship, he enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering MSc program at Stanford University. Later, he moved to the University of California at Berkeley, obtaining his PhD in 2001 in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He returned to Spain in 2001 and spent one year as visiting scholar in the Civil Engineering School of the UPM, before obtaining a “Ramón y Cajal” research grant. In 2006 he moved as Assistant Professor to the Mechanical Engineering school of the UPM, promoting to Associate and Full Professor in 2007 and 2011, respectively. Since 2017, he is the Director of the IMDEA Materials Institute.
