The GROUP<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Composite Materials Group<\/b> (CMG)<\/strong>\u00a0is involved in the research program of The Next Generation of Composite Materials <\/b>(https:\/\/materials.imdea.org\/research\/research-programmes\/the-next-generation-of-composite-materials\/<\/a>) encompassing its research in four major areas in the field of advanced composites for aerospace, automotive, naval and wind energy applications. \u00a0Among others, we can highlight:<\/p>

Multiscale Modelling of Structural Composites<\/b>. Development of a Multiscale Virtual Design and Testing approach that allows the numerical simulation of composites at ply, laminate and structural scales from the measured properties of their constituents (fibres, matrix and fibre\/matrix interfaces).<\/p>

Manufacturing Structural Composites<\/strong> including prepreg consolidation and out-of-autoclave techniques (injection, infusion, pultrusion) together with the simulation of the material processing.<\/p>

Multiscale mechanical characterization<\/b>.<\/strong> The group posses strong experience in the field of mechanical characterization of structural composites under different loading conditions and lengths scales ranging to microstructure to coupons.<\/p>

The group is led by a senior researcher, Prof. Carlos Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong> working in close collaboration with other research groups at IMDEA in fields related to composites as Micro and Nanomechanics<\/b> (Dr. Jon Molina), Multifunctional Nanocomposites<\/b> (Dr. Juan Jos\u00e9 Vilatela), High Performance Polymer Nanocomposites<\/b> (Dr. Deyi Wang) and\u00a0X-ray characterization of materials<\/b> (Dr. Federico Sket).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
