FASENOVA ("New metallic materials by compression and shear")

The objective of this research project is to evaluate the possibility of stabilising, under ambient conditions, high pressure metallic phases by the simultaneous application of compression and shear. The good results obtained recently on pure Zirconium suggest that this methodology could be applied to other metals. This research work aims to open a new route for the development of novel materials, allowing the society to have access to new metals with singular properties which are nowadays unachievable.
