IMDEA Materials is currently seeking candidates to fill the following openings.
Selection Process
Search and selection procedures follow the recommendations of the European Charter for Researchers, and are coordinated by the Institute in consultation with the Scientific Advisory Board. Research positions will be announced in the webpage and advertised through public, international open calls. Applications can be submitted through Institute webpage or directly by e-mail (jobs.materiales@imdea.org). They should include a detailed CV, a research statement and three references. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to carry out independent research which combines high quality scientific results with technology transfer to industry, particularly for senior appointments. Leadership to develop an independent group along the research lines of the Institute and good communication skills are required. Selection of researchers will be based fundamentally on scientific merits and adequacy to the research lines of IMDEA Materials.
Categories
Senior Researchers
Scientists holding a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering (or related discipline) with an established international reputation, funding record and experience as research group leaders. They hold a tenured position and join the Institute in a full-time basis.
Junior Researchers
Young scientists holding a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering (or related discipline) with an established scientific reputation for his/her age, international experience and potential to develop a strong and independent research group along the research lines of the Institute. They hold a tenure-track position for a maximum period of six years and join the Institute in a full-time basis. At the end of this period, and after the evaluation of the Scientific Advisory Board, they will be granted tenure or their appointment will be finished.
Research Associates
Post-doctoral researchers holding a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering (or related discipline). They are contracted for a maximum of four years to work in the research groups of the Institute.
Research Assistants
Graduate students working in the Institute to obtain a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering. They are contracted for a maximum of four years. Contracts include the tuition at the university.
Associate Researchers
It is also a priority of IMDEA Materials to provide a high-quality research environment for top-level researchers already working at Universities and Research Centers throughout the world. These scientists hold a double appointment at IMDEA Materials as Associate Researchers and at their institution. Associate Researchers are full members of the Institute and the selection procedures are equivalent to those for Senior and Junior Researchers.
Visiting Researchers
Members of the scientific community on sabbatical leave from their institutions may be appointed Visiting Researchers at IMDEA Materials.
Language
The working language of the Institute is English. Full command of the English language is required.
Salaries
Salaries at IMDEA Materials are competitive internationally and are established on an individual basis.
